The Association of Organizers of Long Distance Championship Nürburgring

The BF Goodrich Long Distance Championship is a series of pros for the serious experts. The pros are those actively taking part, the experts are the many fans standing on the sidelines. In 2003, on average there were 18,000 for each leg. In the 2004 season, there will definitely be more, since the level of recognition and popularity is constantly growing. Fans have long known that there is no other place where motor sports can be experienced first hand at a lower price than here and where the atmosphere is as welcoming as it is at the Long Distance Championship. "Motorsports so close you can touch it", sometimes just bait that turns out to be a bluff is virtually basic law during the VLN races. Ten times each year for many fans, and often even for entire families, you'll hear "Saturday is Long Distance Race day".

ZIRP -

(=Rhineland Palatinate's initiative Innovation for the Future)

"We deliver the future in the present."

Zukunftsinitiative Rheinland Pfalz (ZIRP) aims at promoting a positive look to the future in Rhineland Palatinate.

This is made possible especially by initiating projects that offer a continuous interdisciplinary dialog between members from industry, the scientific community, educational institutions, politics and the public.

As a part of these projects, the competent experience of all partners is bundled during an exchange of experience and processes geared towards the future are put into motion.

In this fashion, ZIRP is able to provide inspiration for developments geared towards the future. Also included in the functions that ZIRP carries out are efforts to help promote the state in its location marketing.

ZIRP

"No future will have the ability to make amends what has been left undone in the present", so said Albert Schweitzer.

In the work it performs, ZIRP's intention is to make a positive contribution to a successful look to the future of Rhineland Palatinate.

ZIRP was founded in Mainz in 1992 as an initiative called upon by the state's minister president at that time, Rudolf Scharping, and its objective is to support project initiatives and events geared towards the future of the state: as a mediator between groups of society, by fostering objective and lasting dialog between members of industry, politics, science and culture as well as providing inspiration for topics and projects geared toward future development.

As per ZIRP's motto "We deliver the future in the present", ZIRP today is already working on mastering the challenges of the future.

ZIRP is sponsored as a Public Private Partnership (PPP) by over 60 private members, companies and institutes representing commercial industry such as, for example, Nürburgring, political parties, scientific and cultural associations and the state government. It promotes initiatives geared towards developments for the future of Rhineland Palatinate by initiating specific projects and supports the state in the worldwide location competition amongst regions.

In its functions, ZIRP is headed by an executive board made up of 17 members, chaired by Prof. Mabod Muff, member of Boehringer Ingelheim's executive management and the minister president Kurt Beck as the chairman. Projects in industrial fields are provided professional support by the Secretary of Commerce Artur Bauckhage.
